I attended my first Alabama basketball game, we played Tennessee. I’m not used to this, that is Alabama losing, so it wasn’t the best game. That is all I have to say.

On Saturday Alabama’s new BCS Championship was Celebrated at Bryant-Denny Stadium with an estimated 45,000 fans. The first 50,000 received a poster of the Crimson Tide at the Rose Bowl.  I was there to cheer on our first National Championship since 1992, bringing the final tally to 13. But as Coach Saban Stated in his speech at the Celebration, ” I want you all to know this is not the end, this is the beginning”. The Administration and Mayors office decided against  a parade, for a reason I have yet to understand. I would have enjoyed a parade much better because you can look in the players eyes and they can look back at you, it is more personable. The celebration started at 2 pm, the gates opened at 12pm, and it lasted about 45 minutes. Some of the players spoke, including Rolando McClain, Mark Ingram. Coach Nick Saban ended the celebration with a speech and then fireworks.

That’s right 13 Time National Champions

On Saturday the Coaches’ Trophy was at Walmart in Tuscaloosa. My friends and I went at 11:00am to go stond in line. The trophy arrived around 12:00pm. Dr. Pepper, the soda company, sponsored the event and took the pictures. Once we took the picture with the crystal football, we got a card with our picture number on it. Then, about 7 hours after I took the photo, I went on DrPepper.com and typed in my number. Parade planning will start on Monday with administration and the mayor’s office. It looks as if the parade could be as soon as this Saturday coming up. Every coach that has won a National Championship for Alabama has gotten their own statue, that make up the walk of Champions in front of the Bryant-Denny Stadium. There was one spot left empty for the next coach, which will be for Coach Saban. There is talk that his statue could also be up in time for the parade, Saturday.

Let’s Go Bama!!!

My favorite quote of the Bear’s

Well we ran the table and had a perfect 14 and 0 season, winning the 2009 BCS National Championship. I had a party at my parent’s house, decorated in all crimson for most of the day until game time at 5:30pm. I’m still in awe of what just happened Thrusday night. Special Thanks everybody that came to my party. I flew a red eye right after the game. My first stop was in Houston, Texas. I thought I would see a lot of Texas fans, but I think I only saw one or two. There seemed to be more Tide fans coming home from Pasadena than Texas fans. The second flight from Texas to Birmingham was full of nothing but Bama fans. Everybody would lock eyes, smile, and say “Roll Tide!”. After we boarded, the pilot, who could have just turned his head and yelled becasue the plane was so small, came over and said “Good job for not losing”. We all started to laugh. When the plane landed in Birmingham there was a dusting of snow in the air, but not enough to stay on the ground before melting. One of the lady passengers yelled to all of us, “Roll Tide, Y’all”. I just smiled. Mr. and Mrs. Rogers picked me up at the airport to drive me back to Tuscaloosa, which is about a 40 minute drive. Then they took me out to lunch. Thanks again Mr. and Mrs. Rogers!
